In Marcia’s Own Words:

When I first began training at the age of 14 I had somewhat of a bad attitude and a very quick temper.  My instructors spent a lot of time and effort listening to my personal goals and helping me achieve them.  I learned an immense amount of discipline and respect both for myself and those I come in contact with daily.

“As I moved on in my life, I continuously thought about my training and always wished that I had the time to get back into it.  I happened across the ad looking for someone to work in the Eagle Tae Kwon Do Academy after school program during a very trying time in my life and thought that this could be the thing I needed to help alleviate my stress.

“Working here combines two things that I enjoy and feel that I am able to excel at.  I leave each day with a feeling of accomplishment.  I try to listen to each child as my instructors did for me and help them over whatever hurdles they are facing.

“The best part about the job is that it is never dull.  While it can be frustrating at times, you have the opportunity to wear many different hats throughout the day.  With the After School kids, one minute you are the nurturer, and the next minute you are dishing out the “tough love”.  In both the After School and the Evening Program, we have such a large, diverse group, it is important to pay attention and figure out what each student needs individually.   You never know what is going to happen next or in what capacity you will be assisting in, whether it is helping someone improve a side kick or simply listening to the day they had.

“Just knowing that I am fostering and teaching such positive mental and physical ideals to so many young children is extremely rewarding and ensuring that they will one day set out on their own as respectful, responsible adults to pass those same ideals down to the next generation.  I know that I can look back with pride and say I helped shaped students into such well-rounded individuals.
