Miya Broughton

Roles: Assistant Program Director and Student Services Provider; Transported After School Program Teacher; Kids' Summer Camp Counselor, Assistant TaeKwonDo Instructor specializing in Orientation and Color Belt Curriculum.

Date joined Eagle TKD staff: September. 2016

TaeKwonDo Training: Started my TaeKwonDo Training at Eagle TKD Academy without any previous martial arts experience.  I've always had an interest in martial arts and I pursued it.  Daily training under the personal supervision of Headmaster Grady, Master Salinas and Master Jenkins.

Child Care Training: Full time on-the-job training to supervise and teach ages 4-12 with Transported After School Taekwondo Program Kids' Sports and TaeKwonDo and Sports Summer Camp; as well as evening and Saturday Taekwondo classes for ages 4 and up.

Child Care Experience: I have done volunteer work for elementary schools and helped setting up school fairs and fun activities for elementary schools.  Throughout college and over the years I babysat for five various families with children ranging in age from newborns to teenagers.
On December 16, 2017 I gav birth to a baby boy which has given me the best child care experience I've received yet.

Other Education: I attended Berkeley College in New York for two years, concentrating in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising.
In Miya's own words:
"To be able to teach and learn is the highlight about working at Eagle TaeKwonDo Academy.  Being both a TaeKwonDo student and  instructor for beginners and color belts helps me communicate with students from many different backgrounds.
"I've achieved a higher level of patience since working with kids from 5-12 in the After School Program and Summer Camp as well as with students of all ages from age 4 and up in the evening and Saturday classes.
"I'm amazed every time a see a student's confidence shine through as they improve the skills I've taught them.  It motivates me to keep practicing every day.
"Personally, it has helped my confidence, especially with public speaking.   I no longer dread speaking in front of crowds and meeting new faces."

“Tae Kwon Do as an activity provides a complete package of mental and physical training.   Tae Kwon Do as a martial arts philosophy offers an environment that encourages each individual to always do the best they personally can do.
“Tae Kwon Do is an excellent family activity.  My sons Daniel, Ronnie, Mickey and I can practice together.
We can encourage each other to always do our best.”
– Ronald Kecman, Sr

“Tae Kwon Do has been great for Ashley.  Tae Kwon Do has helped her be more attentive and has also improved her balance in ballet.  "Ashley has also met many new friends who are very helpful when it’s time for her to advance to another  martial arts belt level.”
- J
oyce Fitzgerald, Ashley's mom

“My children have become better prepared to accept the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.  It provides structured physical and mental activity in a controlled  martial arts environment, where traditional values such as love of country, family, unity and harmony are stressed.”
- Walter Bloomfield
